Subway service changes to affect 11 lines this weekend

Construction work to upgrade and maintain stations, tracks and signal systems is affecting weekend service on many of the city’s subway lines. The MTA is advising customers to allow for extra travel time if they rely on any of these trains.

From 11:00 p.m. Saturday, August 23 to 6:00 a.m. Sunday, August 24, and from 11:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, August 25, New Lots Av-bound 4 trains run local from 125 St to Grand Cantral-42 St due to CPM cable work south of 125 St.

Beginning 12:01 a.m. Saturday, July 5 until February 2015 6 trains skip Zerega Av and Buhre Av in both directions due to CPM station rehabilitation work.

For Service To/From Zerega Av, use the Bx4 or shuttle buses to connect between Zerega Av and Castle Hill Av; free transfer is available with MetroCard.

For Service To/From Buhre Av, use the Bx8, Bx24, or shuttle buses to connect between Buhre Av and Middletown Rd; free transfer is available with MetroCard.

From 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Saturday, August 23 and from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 6 trains run every 16 minutes between 3 Av-138 St and Pelham Bay Park due to MOW track tie block renewal south of Whitlock Av and track panel installation north of Elder Av.  The last stop for some 6 trains headed toward Pelham Bay Park is 3 Av-138 St.

At all times until September 2014, Far Rockaway/Lefferts Blvd-bound A trains skip 88 St, and Lefferts Blvd-bound A trains skip 104 St due to station renewals at 88 St and 104 St.

For Service To/From 88 St:  To 88 St, take the A to Rockaway Blvd and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A.  From 88 St, take a Brooklyn-bound A to 80 St and transfer to a Far Rockaway or Lefferts Blvd-bound A.

For Service To/From 104 St:  To 104 St, take the Lefferts Blvd-bound A to Lefferts Blvd and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A.  From 104 St, take the Q112 bus. Or, take the A to Rockaway Blvd and transfer to a Lefferts Blvd-bound A train.

R

From 6:30 a.m. to 12 midnight Saturday, August 23, and Sunday, August 24, R service is extended to Jamaica-179 St due to MOW Jamaica Yard lead switch reconstruction.

From 6:30 a.m. to 12 midnight Saturday, August 23, and Sunday, August 24, R trains are rerouted on the F line both directions between Manhattan and Queens due to work in the 60th Street Tube, chip and pour south of 5 Av/53 St, and switch work south of Queensboro Plaza.

N,R (Montague Tubes Closed)

At all times until October 2014, there are no N or R trains running between Court Street in Brooklyn and Whitehall Street in Manhattan.  Late night N and weekend R service are rerouted over the Manhattan Bridge.

Construction work to upgrade and maintain stations, tracks and signal systems is affecting weekend service on many of the city’s subway lines. The MTA is advising customers to allow for extra travel time if they rely on any of these trains.

Starting Monday, July 21, there will be service disruptions on the E, F, M and R lines between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. in Queens and Manhattan for four consecutive weeknights, as part of the MTA’s Fastrack maintenance program:

  • E service will be suspended between Roosevelt Avenue and World Trade Center.
  • F service will be suspended between Roosevelt Avenue and 21 Street-Queensbridge.
  • M service will end early between 71 Avenue and Essex Street each night.
  • R service will end early between 71 Avenue and Whitehall Street each night.

Travel alternatives

  • Take the 7 between Manhattan and 74 St-Roosevelt Avenue or Queensboro Plaza.
  • Take the N between Manhattan and Queensboro Plaza.
  • In Manhattan, transfer at 5 Avenue/42 Street-Bryant Park 7/D/F, Times Square-42 Street/Port Authority 7/A, and 34 Street-Herald Square D/F/N.
  • Take the R between Queens Plaza and 71 Avenue. When R service ends, E trains run local between Queens Plaza and 71 Avenue until 10 p.m. After 10 PM, take the E Local between Roosevelt Avenue and 71 Avenue.
  • In Manhattan along 8th Avenue, take the A Local or C instead of the E.
  • Along 53 Street, use the D or nearby 6 and N stations instead.
  • Free shuttle buses run local between Queensboro Plaza and 74 Street-Roosevelt Avenue making station stops at Queens Plaza, 36 Street, Steinway Street, 46 Street, Northern Boulevard, and 65 Street.

The MTA will resume No. 7 train weekend shutdowns this weekend, and will suspend service in both directions between Times Square-42 St in Manhattan and 74 St-Broadway in Jackson Heights.

Construction work to upgrade and maintain stations, tracks and signal systems is affecting weekend service on many of the city’s subway lines. The MTA is advising customers to allow for extra travel time if they rely on any of these trains.
