Severed Foot Found On Front Lawn In Rosedale; Turns Out To Be Bear’s

There’s relief in Rosedale this morning after a gruesome discovery rattled nerves. A man taking out the garbage Sunday night found what appeared to be a severed child’s foot on his front lawn. Police responded to the scene to investigate. On Monday morning, the Medical Examiner’s Office determined the foot was that of a bear. Read More: CBS News

 

 

Man Arrested For Alleged Groping Of Shayne DeJesus On Train

Police in Queens say they’ve arrested the man who allegedly groped Shayne DeJesus at the Union Square subway station. Froylan Andrade, 39, is charged with sex abuse after cops were able to identify him from a photo DeJesus snapped on the train. Read More: WPIX

 

 

Feds forced to return nearly $1 million to Gallagher’s 2000, a Long Island City strip club 

The feds have been ordered to return nearly $1 million seized from a Queens strip club after a judge cleared the owner of civil charges of financial improprieties. Robert Potenza, the pistol-packing owner of Gallagher’s 2000 in Long Island City, ran afoul of government agents who suspected the strip club king had made more than 100 bank deposits in amounts less than $10,000 in order to avoid federal reporting requirements. Graffiti legend was also an NYPD cop

Police have discovered the identity of one of New York City’s most prolific graffiti vandals — and he’s one of their own. Steven Weinberg, 43, of Flushing, a patrolman who retired from the NYPD in 2001 after hurting his leg, is the notorious “Neo” — one of the peskiest subway taggers of the 1980s. Boxing legend Joe Frazier dies, 67

In another era, Joe Frazier—”Smokin’ Joe” to anybody who cared about boxing—might have perched serenely atop the heavyweight boxing division for a decade, his powerful punches and stolid visage epitomizing pugilistic grace. Mr. Frazier, who died Monday at age 67 after a brief bout with liver cancer, was small by heavyweight standards. But he was a warrior who smothered his opponents with punches, including a devastating left hook he used to end many of his fights early. Read More: Wall Street Journal

Seek men in string of robberies

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help in locating and identifying the two suspects wanted in connection with a burglary pattern.

The first incident occurred on Thursday, August 14, when the suspects broke into the Checkers Restaurant located at 83-45 Parsons Boulevard and made off with an undetermined amount of cash.

Incident number two occurred on Wednesday, September 14 at the same restaurant. This time the suspects made off with a 2002 Ford van. The van has since been recovered.

Incident number three was on Sunday, September 25, when the suspects broke into an Associated market located at 155-15 Aguilar Avenue, where they were unsuccessful in taking any property or cash.

On Sunday, October 9, the suspects broke into the Sand Cafe located at 82-65 Parsons Boulevard, where they took cash from the register.

The most recent incident was on Tuesday, October 11 at Zolitas Bakery located at 79-34 Parsons Boulevard, where the perps took an undetermined amount of cash from a drawer.

Suspect one is described as a male black with a beard and mustache in his 20s, 5’9″-5’11″, approximately 160 pounds, wearing a light-colored shirt.

Suspect two is also a black male in his 20s, 5’9″-6’0″, approximately 160 pounds, wearing a light-colored nylon cap on his head, a light-colored, short-sleeved shirt. He has a tattoo on the right side of his neck.

Man allegedly impersonated cop, forced sex act

A man was arrested on October 13 by members of the Internal Affairs Bureau’s Police Impersonation Unit for criminal sex act and criminal impersonation of a police officer.

Cops say that on June 16, 2010, the victim was approached by Julio Olivares, 27, of Bayside, driving a gray SUV, who displayed a gold police-type shield and instructed the victim to enter his vehicle.

Olivares allegedly proceeded to drive off with the victim to a nearby parking garage where he forced the victim to perform a sex act on him.

Sex abuse suspect sought

The NYPD is looking for a man they say is wanted for sex abuse.

On Thursday, July 21, the female victim, 18, was grabbed from behind by the suspect who sexually abused her and then fled.

The following day, a 21-year-old woman was also grabbed from behind by the suspect who sexually abused her and then fled.

Police say the suspect is a male Hispanic between 25 and 30, with a thin build and black hair.
