QUEENS

Saturday, September 15

11:00 a.m. (last ticket is sold at 4:30 p.m.), On Saturday, the Amazing Maize Maze, a 3-acre interactive corn maze, opens at the Queens Country Farm Museum.

12 p.m. – 3 pm, Commemorate the Constitution’s birthday by learning about the document and how it was written at King Manor’s Hands-on History: Constitution Celebration. Write your own Constitution with a quill pen.

12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Come to the Back to School Festival in Baisley Pond Park. There will be crafts, games, music, giveaways and more.

Saturday, September 15 – Sunday, September 16

5 p.m. Saturday – 6 a.m. Sunday, Experience the great outdoors right here in Queens at the Queens Zoo’s Overnight Camping Adventures. Activities include a late-night walk through the aviary and making enrichment treats for the animals. Feel free to bring your own snacks too, along with a picnic dinner, a tent and sleeping bags. The Queens Zoo will serve beverages, dessert and breakfast.

Sunday, September 16

11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Maspeth Federal Savings will have its Smile on Maspeth event on Sunday in its main office parking lot, where there will be rides, raffles a petting zoo, face painting, games, live entertainment and more.

 

AROUND QUEENS

Saturday, September 15 & Sunday, September 16

3:30 p.m. – 5:o0 p.m., At the Long Island Children’s Museum’s Messy Afternoons, kids ages 18 months to 4 will be up in their elbows in goop, guts, shaving cream and play-doh while doing a variety of sensory activities. Free with museum admission.

Sunday, September 16

12:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m., Kiddie Cruise: A Princess and Pirate Adventure is an all inclusive fun-filled family event that sails for two hours on the Hudson River. Guests enjoy a puppet show, magician, face painting, arts and crafts, live music while soaking in the sights. All guests receive a healthy bagged lunch and unlimited juice and soda. Kids are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Princess or Pirate. The boat leaves from Pier #40 West Side Highway in Manhattan.

1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m, Sunday is the last day to see Angelina the Ballerina the Musical at the Riverside Theatre in Manhattan. The show is appropriate for ages 3 to12.
