Queens cop shooter surrenders

The man who shot a Queens police officer last month turned himself in to authorities Sunday night after a month-long manhunt.

Police have been looking for John Thomas, 24, since the August 8 incident, where he shot NYPD Sergeant Craig Bier in both legs in Jamaica, seriously injuring him.

After a $45,000  reward was offered for Thomas’ capture, and Councilmember Ruben Wills held a press conference calling for Thomas to turn himself in to authorities, the suspect finally surrendered September 9.

Around 7 p.m., Thomas, accompanied by a lawyer, met NYPD detectives in the parking lot of Pep Boys located at Liberty Avenue and Merrick Boulevard in Jamaica, and was arrested.

Thomas has been charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Police have increased the reward to $45,000  for the capture of John Thomas, 24, who is wanted for the shooting and attempted murder of NYPD Sergeant Craig Bier, said authorities.

Initially, there was a $32,ooo reward for the Queens man that shot Bier in both legs on August 8 in Jamaica.

Thomas is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall and 180 pounds.
