Firefighters and officers continue go door to door in the city’s most devastated areas, searching for those still in need of help.

“The full toll of Hurricane Sandy on New Yorkers  is still emerging,” said Mayor Michael Bloomberg at his press conference today.

A least 37 New Yorkers have been confirmed dead from Sandy and Bloomberg said, “As first responders continue their rescue and recovery work that number may continue to rise.”

“People are now transitioning from shock to real world problems of how do you get water and how do you get food,” the mayor said.

Throughout the city, locations will be set up to distribute food and water to victims of the storm.

The distribution will be from 3-6 p.m. today; 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Friday; and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The Queens locations are:

  • Beach 51st Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard
  • Red Fern Avenue and Beach 12th Street
  • Beach 84th Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard

Residents are asked to bring their own bags if possible and are allowed three meals and five bottles of water.

Con Ed is also distributing dry and wet ice at 121-10 Rockaway Boulevard.
