A former city Parks Department worker was sentenced to 25 years in prison for stabbing another employee to death during a fight at a Flushing recreation center.

Robert Swann, 53, of Ozone Park, was found guilty earlier this month of first-degree manslaughter, District Attorney Richard Brown said. He received the maximum prison term with his sentence.

According to trial testimony, Swann stabbed the victim, Ezra Black, 31, in the front torso on the afternoon of September 4, 2012 during a fight at the Al Oerter Recreation Center in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.  Swann allegedly told police that after he stabbed Black, he left the scene, and got rid of the knife and the clothing he was wearing in a field near the park.

Both men were seasonal Parks Department workers, according to Brown.

One Parks worker is dead and another is in custody after the two got into an argument, police said.

Ezra Black, 31, was fatally stabbed once in the chest around 4 p.m. in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park on Tuesday, September 4, after he got into a dispute with fellow Parks staffer Robert Swann.

Police responded to the site, just off Fowler Avenue, and Black was transported to New York Hospital Queens where he was pronounced dead.

Swann, 51, was booked for murder and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

The two had been arguing outside of a maintenance facility behind the Al Oerter Recreation Center, officials said. Just a few hours before, Mayor Michael Bloomberg held a press conference at the center to discuss his proposed soda ban.

It could not be confirmed with the Parks Department what the two did at the park, but several news outlets have reported the two were seasonal maintenance workers who had been arguing all day.
