A former Queens assemblyman and prominent member of the Bayside community for many years, Vincent Nicolosi passed away Friday after a battle with breast cancer, according to family members. He was 74 years old.

The United States Postal Service intends to consolidate up to 82 facilities, including its Queens’ center on 20th Avenue, beginning January 2015 to continue its plan to cut losses. The initiative is projected to save the cash-strapped delivery service more than $3.5 billion in the next five years, according to the USPS, but politicians and union representatives are against downsizing the Queens facilities.

A Little Neck elementary school is paving the way for people with disabilities. P.S. 811Q on Marathon Parkway is the first school in the nation to partner with Canadian company Essential Accessibility and offer its app, which is designed to help people who can’t browse the web through conventional methods.
