Name: Simone Louise Price
Company: Sutphin Boulevard Business Improvement District (BID)
Title: Executive Director

1. What do you love about your job and why?
I love interacting with retailers and community members on a daily basis. I enjoy being a change agent for my community and commercial corridor. I enjoy being a resource and advocate for my constituency. I love being a part of the strategic planning process for the revitalization of the Sutphin Boulevard Business Improvement District’s (BID) commercial corridor and Downtown Jamaica. Most importantly, I love working with a dynamic group of board members, community members/ stakeholders and civic leaders.
2. What are your business goals over the next five years?
Over the next five years, I would like to see Downtown Jamaica thriving and revitalized. I would like to see partnerships between organizations within the community emerge that will help bring additional resources to the BID’s commercial corridor. I would like to see healthier food options and quality retailers available in the immediate and surrounding area. In addition, I would like to see retail and marketing campaigns take place that will educate the community about the services that the BID has to offer. Finally, I would like to see the Sutphin Boulevard BID’s commercial corridor expanded. An expansion of BID services will serve as a foundation for economic development and community revitalization in Downtown Jamaica.
3. How do you give back to the community?
I give back to my community by fundraising to support various community outreach projects (i.e., Adopt-a-Family program) and applying for grants that continue to enable my organization to create several jobs for community members. Moreover, I volunteer my personal time to church functions, community outreach projects, shelters, high school/program career fairs and at-risk youth forums throughout the year.
