1. What do you love about your job and why?
There is nothing better than being part of a team that touches 15 million lives a year. Queens Library is a place for people to learn, go online, attend programs, and enrich their lives. My work is just a small part of that, but I like to think that everything I do helps makes the library and the community stronger. It’s also incredible to work with committed elected officials who fight for libraries.
2. What are your business goals over the next five years?
Professionally, to continue my path of learning about Queens and the workings of government; to see through some of the big initiatives we’ve started at Queens Library. Additionally, I would like to earn a master’s degree and run a big race, such as a half marathon. (I actually hate running, so I find it to be the greatest test of both physical and mental endurance.)
3. How do you give back to the community?
I’ve been very lucky since the very first day I arrived in Queens that my work has helped bring some improvement to the lives of people and neighborhoods, whether it was by bringing attention to a community issue, mobilizing agencies to get an abandoned street cleaned up or helping a community get a new library. On a more personal note, I am a big supporter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
