Name: Julissa Ferreras
Company: Council of the City of New York
Title: Council Member, 21st Council District

1. What do you love about your job and why?
I have the best job in the world, because I get to represent the interests of my community in the City Council. I truly love what I do because I love where I live and I love helping my neighbors get their concerns raised at the municipal level. It is totally fulfilling to help transform and improve the lives of the people in the community where I was raised.
2. What are your business goals over the next five years?
My goals are to continue fighting for the people of Corona, East Elmhurst, Elmhurst and Jackson Heights. We need to improve the quality of life for our residents, get more resources for our neighborhood schools, help our seniors, and fight domestic violence. We need to improve the economic climate for the small businesses that are the backbone of the community. And we need to make sure that working people are able to feed and house their families on just wages.
3. How do you give back to the community?
Serving the people of District 21 is a tremendous privilege, and I never forget that I am a servant of the public. Every day I wake up and try to think of new and more creative ways to address the problems that face our community. My door is open to everyone and my office is always busy. I always keep in mind that the people are my boss.
