Company: Consolidated Edison Company of New York

Title: Engineer

1. What do you love about your job and why?
I have the opportunity to help shape New York City’s future by working on the critical infrastructure serving as the new framework for our electrical system. The new information age technology we are deploying will break down energy use and provide customers with more information, enabling them to make more informed choices about saving energy and money.

2. What are your business goals over the next five years?

It’s an exciting time at Con Edison as we implement innovative Smart Grid initiatives. As New Yorkers adopt new technologies, we will be prepared through the use of wireless communication and more sophisticated sensors on our system, ready to forge a Smart Grid that can serve as a model for other municipalities and further the prospect of fulfilling its technological promise.

3. How do you give back to the community?
I help lead the Edison Engineering Society, where we organize activities to educate local students about engineering, technology and energy. After I finish an MBA at NYU in May, I’m looking forward to getting involved again in one of my favorite sports by volunteering with some local girls’ soccer programs.
