Name: Michael Gianaris
State Senator
12th Senate District
1. What do you love about your job?

I love having a positive impact on the lives of my fellow Queens residents. I am proud to represent the hard-working men and women of western Queens with whom I grew up in these neighborhoods. Every day, my goal is to make their lives better, whether by generating new jobs, reforming state government or improving the quality of life of western Queens.
2. What are your business goals over the next five years?
Over the next five years, I want to improve how state government works for the average citizen. I ran for the State Senate because that is where the real work must be done to transform Albany. For too long our government has taxed too much and spent too much. This formula has hurt everyday New Yorkers and has driven businesses out of our state. In five years, I hope to have played a part in creating a state government of which the people of New York can be proud.

3. How do you give back to your community?
I try to give back to my community every day by ensuring that the voices of the men and women I represent are heard over those of the special interests.Too often, those with more money or more powerful lobbyists have a greater voice than average people. I consider it my job to stand up for my community against these powerful interests and ensure that western Queens has a strong independent voice in state government.
