105th PrecinctThe New York City Police Department is asking for your help in identifying the suspect wanted in connection with an attempted rape that took place on March 12 in the vicinity of 141st Avenue and Springfield Boulevard.

Attempted rape

Police say the suspect followed the victim into a building and grabbed her buttocks. When the victim resisted, the suspect threw her to the ground pulled her pants to her knees and attempted to rape her. The suspect fled the scene when a resident opened the apartment door.

The suspect is described as a black male, dark complexion, approximately 18 to 23 years old, 5’5” wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. The suspect also had a dark-colored North Face backpack.

Arrest three in fatal robbery

After she refused to give up her pocketbook, reportedly to save her cell phone with text messages from her husband, Rabia Mohammed, 23, was shot twice in the torso on Sunday, March 13 in front of 93-20 204th Street. EMS responded and took her to Jamaica Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her husband was reportedly uninjured.

A week later, police arrested Tiyquon Hodges, 16, and charged him with robbery in the first and third degrees; as well as Corey Brown and Ian Green, both 17, charged with murder, robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.

106th PrecinctA young girl participating in the Paghwah festivities on Sunday, March 20 was allegedly abducted from Phil Rizzuto Park in Richmond Hill by a Guyanese male.

Girl allegedly abducted, sodomized

A police source said the girl was forced to ingest something, sexually assaulted and left near 1st Street in Broad Channel.

She was allegedly covered in colored powder and her clothes were torn and disheveled. She was taken to Queens General Hospital. The case is being investigated.

Bad accident on Cross Bay Boulevard, driver chargedAccording to a police source, Avinash Rupert of Jamaica has been charged with driving while intoxicated for allegedly causing the accident on Cross Bay Boulevard on Thursday, March 17.

Rupert had been traveling “at a high rate of speed” southbound on 163rd Avenue, with six people – two males and four females, ages 18 to 20 — in the 1993 two-door Honda Civic, when he attempted to change lanes. He allegedly lost control of the vehicle and hit two parked cars. A female passenger was ejected and two were pinned in the car. They had to be extricated.

The source said that officers on the scene smelled alcohol on Rupert.

Arrest teen in DWIA 16-year-old girl was arrested on Sunday, March 20 for driving while intoxicated, according to a police source.

The source said the girl claimed she was at a house party, drinking.

108th Precinct On Thursday, March 17, police responded to a report of a car accident inside of Boro-Wide Recycling located at 3 Railroad Place.

Man pinned, killed by tractor trailer inside garage

Upon arrival, officers discovered an unconscious and unresponsive 21-year-old man lying on the ground inside of the warehouse garage. EMS also responded to the location and pronounced the man dead on the scene.

Further investigation revealed that a commercial tractor trailer, operated by a 35-year-old man, was backing into the garage of the location when it struck the victim, identified as Anibal Pilataxi, pinning him between the trailer and another vehicle that was parked inside.

109th Precinct A man was shot and killed and another was injured on Wednesday, March 16 in the rear parking lot of the Hanyang Super Market at 150-51 Northern Boulevard in Flushing, according to the police.

Arrest in fatal shooting

Two suspects have been apprehended in connection with this incident – Caleb Ahn, 16, and Karma Sonam, also 16.

The victim has been identified as Bernard Cho, 28.

Cho was pronounced dead on arrival at Flushing Hospital after being shot in the torso. The other victim, a 30-year-old male, was also shot in the torso and brought to New York Hospital Queens, where he was in stable condition, said police.

Karma has been charged with murder, attempted murder, assault, robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.

Overall crime in the 109th Precinct increased by 44.7 percent in a 28-day period between February 7 and March 6 compared to the same period in 2010.

There was one murder in this period, but none during the same period in 2010. There were no rapes in the period in 2010, but there was one in 2011. During this time, there were 24 robberies in 2011, compared with 14 in 2010.

There was a spike in felony assault, with 20 during the period, and nine occurring last year during the same time.

There was a slight increase in burglary from last year’s number of 43 to 46 this year, during the 28-day period.

Grand larceny increased as well, jumping from 32 to 60. Grand larceny auto increased slightly, from 25 to 26.

113th PrecinctOn Sunday, March 20, police responded to a 9-1-1 call of a male shot at 114-45 199th Street. When officers arrived, they discovered a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head. EMS responded and pronounced him dead on the scene. There are no arrests at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

115th PrecinctOn Wednesday, March 16, police responded to calls of a dispute at 104-05 Northern Boulevard. Upon arrival, they discovered a 24-year-old man, identified as Jose Balberas, stabbed multiple times. EMS responded and took him to Elmhurst Hospital where he was pronounced dead on Thursday, March 17. There are no arrests at this time and investigation is ongoing.
