The Bayside Historical Society will hold its St. Patrick’s Day Celebration on Thursday, March 18 at 7 p.m. The evening of history and song will include the Bayside Glee Club, under the baton of Henry McDonagh III, performing a tribute to the day.
In addition to the current exhibits, a special exhibition includes the original deed from Timothy Matlock to Abraham Bell in 1824 for the purchase of 245 acres in what would eventually become Bayside.
Items related to Bayside resident, World Heavy Weight Boxing Champion Gentleman Jim Corbett (1866-1933) will be on display. In 1892, Corbett, considered to the father of modern boxing, defeated the great John L. Sullivan by way of a knockout in the 21st round. After his retirement, Corbett lived in Bayside from 1903 until his death.
