Whitestone Community Volunteer Ambulance

Hello everyone! I hope you had a great holiday season and that the new year is starting off great for you! This past week I was honored to have been chosen to serve on the Board of Directors of Whitestone Volunteer Ambulance! I will be the Director of Publicity, Public Relations and Blood Bank. I look forward to being a part of this hard-working, dedicated group of community volunteers to keep the 65 year old tradition of WVAS going strong

Here is a little bio about Whitestone Community Volunteer Ambulance!

The Whitestone Community Volunteer Ambulance Service was established in 1947 and became an active community service in 1948. During the past six decades, we have grown and evolved with this community and the growing emergency medical service industry. We provide a free basic life support ambulance service to all of Whitestone and we serve our residents and their families when they require help outside of the neighborhood as well. We respond to medical emergencies when our 24 hour hotline is called and we are also an active participant in the FDNY’s 911 network. Whitestone residents also borrow walkers, canes, wheelchairs and crutches at no charge. We transport Whitestone residents to and from medical facilities in non-emergency situations. Whitestone Ambulance also hosts annual blood drives and other events for the community. The Volunteer Ambulance Corps has always been an educational facility for CPR and other aspects of emergency medicine.

We will continue these traditions with pride and integrity for generations to come. We need to continue to receive the unwavering support that this community has always shown by way of donations and participation. Funding is desperately needed for new ambulances, equipment and facility repairs. Volunteers are also needed now more than ever. We have an in-depth training program that prepares new members for ambulance duty and the experience gained often leads to careers in emergency services and the health care industry. Dispatchers are also needed. Please consider joining our membership in whatever capacity you can.

We are located at 12-15 150 Street in the heart of Whitestone.
