Planning to hire? Turns out you aren’t alone.

Firms recently surveyed by PricewaterhouseCoopers shared some good news which had 78 percent of executives saying that they expect their company to show positive growth over the next 12 months. Fifty-four percent of executives questioned stated that they planned to hire over the next year, with only 3 percent planning to trim their workforce.

This bright news was slightly dimmed by the fact that nearly half, 45 percent, of executives are still concerned about the state of the economy. Thirty-nine percent of executives surveyed are optimistic about the economy. And what is still the top barrier to growth that executives are seeing? Potential lack of demand continues to be seen as the biggest obstacle to growth.

Still, the news is uplifting; 35 percent of executives surveyed projected double digit growth this year and 62 percent are planning to increase their operational spending this year. In my payroll company, we’ve slowly seen the check count per company rise overall, which is also a positive sign. Let’s hope that 2012 is recovery year!
