A month before the voters decide Assemblymember Rory Lancman’s replacement in Albany, one of the candidates picked up a key endorsement.
The United Federation of Teachers (UFT) endorsed Nily Rozic for the 25th Assembly District seat currently held by Lancman.
“Nily Rozic understands that working towards a brighter future starts in the classroom,” said UFT President Michael Mulgrew. “I know she will fight in Albany to secure resources and promote policies that will strengthen New York’s public school system.”
Rozic is the daughter of a UFT member.
“While campaigning, I heard my district loud and clear: Education has always been and always will be my biggest priority. With the UFT and NYSUT, I will fight in Albany to lower class size, improve educational outcomes for all students and bring parents back into the decision-making process,” Rozic said. “We need to ensure that Albany does not forget about New York City public school students.”
Rozic will face the Republican nominee Abraham Fuchs in the general election on November 6.
