All about Bob Friedrich

We are approaching another Democratic Primary on September 14 and I urge all my fellow Democrats to go out and vote that day. One of the races coming up is in the 24th Assembly District which covers many different towns in Queens including Bellerose and Glen Oaks Village where I live. The race is between Assemblyman David Weprin and Glen Oaks Village President Bob Friedrich. I believe Bob Friedrich is the true candidate of change.

Bob has proven over the years that he is a concerned community leader who cares about the residents of Queens. I would like to give a partial list of the things he has accomplished and some of which he is still working on.

As President of Glen Oaks Village, Bob Friedrich has transformed the area into a desirable and a people-friendly community; he has successfully argued for reduced property-tax assessments; created a Green thumb program and transformed Little Neck Parkway from a overgrown weeded eyesore in to a well maintained tree lined ‘green street.’ He opposed congestion pricing tax; fought hard to save the Q79 from being cut by the MTA and fought to stop the double-digit increase on water rates.

Currently, he is working to save the Klien farm with the help of local residents.

Bob was responsible for having the outdoor reading terrace added to the final plans for the new Bellerose Library on Union Turnpike which is due for completion in 2011.

Bob has done much more than the space provided for me to write about but you can see what I mean about Bob.

Like he said:

“Change is coming on September 14, then we begin to change the culture of dysfunction that permeates Albany,"

Well I agree, good luck Bob.
