Business leaders will be honored for their leadership, civic participation and philanthropy at the Parker Jewish Institute on Monday, December 7 at the First Annual Parker’s Platinum Professionals Awards and Networking Event.

Scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m., the event will be a great opportunity to network with the movers and shakers of the business community as well as rub shoulders with this year’s outstanding award winners.

The honorees who have been named so far are Arthur Epstein, proprietor of Randi Cleaners, Inc.; Seymour Hittner, President of Parking Violations Settlement Bureau, Inc.; William H. Jennings, partner of Marks, Paneth & Shron; Steven Kramer, partner at Fledman, Kramer and Monaco; Dr. Phoebe Lazarus, President of the Great Neck Senior Center; Judith A. Limpert, Vice President of Alma Bank; Larry Ludwig, Managing Partner of Asher Group, LLC; the Honorable Jack Martins, Mayor of the Village of Mineola; Theodore W. Meshover, proprietor of Universal Security Systems, Inc.; Michael Resnick, President of Sinai Chapels; James V. Riso, Vice President of The Briarwood Organization; Adam Schwan, Chief Executive Officer of Sandwire Corp.; Ronald S. and Jill S. Swartz, partners of Swartz & Swartz; and Joseph J. Valentino, Chief Executive Officer of Titan Motor Group.

Parker Jewish vice president for development Ginger Portnoy explained that the honorees were nominated because of their success, civic participation, philanthropic efforts and general leadership.

“They really are leaders,” she said, adding that Parker Jewish is thrilled with the number of nominations they received.

In addition, NBC feature reporter Cat Greenleaf will MC the event. The U.S. Army Honor Guard will also be present to honor all who served at Pearl Harbor, which was bombed on December 7, 1941.

Portnoy noted that everyone has heard about the health care reform and Governor David A. Paterson’s desire to cut medical reimbursements. Factors such as these make the fundraising event all the more important.

“The support from this event will certainly enhance the programs that we will have here,” she said.

The fundraising event will be held at Parker Jewish Institute, located at 271-11 76th Avenue in New Hyde Park. Individual tickets cost $200 and tables are $2,000. There are also sponsorship, expo table and journal advertising opportunities available.

Those interested in attending are asked to purchase their tickets by Thursday, December 3. For more information, contact Stacey Altman at 718-289-2221 or saltman@parkerinstitute.org or Peggy Pagan at 718-289-2143.

Founded in 1907, Parker Jewish has 527 beds. Its services include short-term rehabilitation, sub-acute care, long-term care, adult day health care, Alzheimer’s day care, home health care and hospice.
