Bayside Raiders win four out five games

Week seven results are in – and they show another positive weekend for Bayside Raiders football.

Four out of the five divisions that hit the turf took home a victory. The intermediate squad had their bye week, and is prepping for a big game against division rivals the Lynvets on Sunday, November 8 at noon.

In the only loss for any Raider team in week seven, the bantam division squad was shut out 16-0 by the second place Brooklyn Skyhawks. The Raiders defensive game was as pristine as always, but it was not enough to contain the Skyhawks in the first half.

The peanuts division team snuck away with an 8-6 victory over the Skyhawks on Saturday, October 31. A quick touchdown in the first quarter was all they needed to take down a win and move up in rankings with their 4-2 record.

The junior peewee Raiders’ 30-12 win over the Yorkville Eagles was a giant morale booster for the team. In the game, Devine Buckram rushed for two huge touchdowns, which put the Raiders over the top and helped secure the victory.

Even after this win, the junior peewee team is still in second place, and has a bye week coming up.

Earlier in the season, the peewee Raiders took a hard hit in the rankings when they lost to the Eagles – week seven was a whole new ball game.

The Raiders avenged that loss, defeating the Eagles 28-14. This was only their second win all season, but they hope to make this a regular occurrence. They also have a bye week coming up.

As the season grows shorter, the divisional rankings grow tighter. Each division has only a slim margin between every team; it’s still anyone’s title.
