BYOB in Brief: Navigating Health Insurance Under the Affordable Care Act

Join us for BYOB in Brief, a free series of single information sessions addressing topical issues affecting artists, and designed to compliment QCA’s existing BYOB curriculum. This month Jack Friedman of the Queens Chamber of Commerce and Nadege Noel of Republic Health will discuss how federal health care reform will impact New Yorkers, artists and small business owners. Starting January 1st 2014, federal law requires that every individual have health insurance coverage. This presentation will explain what to expect from the Affordable Care Act, and offer a preliminary outline of what New York’s Health Exchange, or Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP), program will look like once instituted. Health Republic Insurance will give you an overview of who they are and how they can help you navigate the upcoming changes, while the Queens Chamber of Commerce will offer online resources and answer individual questions. Made possible in part by a grant from the Small Business Assistance Program and Community Health Advocates.
