Spuyten Duyvil

Tribeca PAC presents the “Hottest New Band in Folk Music”:
Spuyten Duyvil

"They are the hottest new band in folk music ... and one of the best." - Legendary WXPN Folk DJ, Gene Shay

“One of the best bands to emerge on the Americana music scene in the last year.” - John Platt, WFUV

(New York, NY) February 8, 2013 -- BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, the longest operating performance venue in lower Manhattan, proudly presents Spuyten Duyvil performing on Friday, March 1 at 8PM.

Hailing from the Hudson Valley, Spuyten Duyvil (pronounced: "Spite + n Dive + l") is an eight-piece Americana band from New York’s Hudson Valley whose original alt roots sound is comprised of soaring vocals, traditional jug band energy, amped-up lap steel guitar and Chicago-style blues harp that propel the listener on a barn-burning romp through the last 100 years of American Roots music. Their 2011 release, "New Amsterdam" was a DJ favorite, receiving enthusiastic airplay on over 165 stations in 5 countries and a “Top American Roots Album 2011” nomination from The Alternate Root TV.

"I remember tossing a cherry bomb into a lake when I was a kid. That's how Spuyten Duyvil affected me when I first heard them and this CD conveys that shock and excitement. Great original writing by member Mark Miller ... and outstanding vocals from Beth Kaufman blast this group into the stratosphere ... They are so refreshingly original there's no way to describe them in a few words." - Rich Warren, Host, WFMT's "The Midnight Special" and "Folkstage"
