Maundy Thursday

This is the first service of the triduum. - the three days that begins with the Maundy Thursday liturgy and ends with Easter Sunday. The service commemorates the institution of the Eucharist and the washing of the disciples’ feet and gets its name from ‘maundy’ (from the Latin mandatum) meaning foot washing. In Scripture, after Supper Jesus washed his disciples’ feet and he gave them a new commandment to love one another. The services concludes with the stripping of the Altar.

An Agape meal follows this service.
