Lunar New Year Celebration at Flushing Town Hall with the Momenta Quartet and Min Xiao-Fen

The Momenta Quartet--praised by the Washington Post for "an extraordinary musical experience" and by the New York Times for their "diligence, curiosity and excellence"--brings to the Flushing Town Hall a program welcoming the Lunar New Year. The quartet's extensive and versatile personal repertoire includes over 60 world premieres and countless works dedicated to them; foremost among these is Jason Kao Hwang's lush "If We Live in Forgetfulness, We Die in a Dream" (2011), inspired by a Zen quotation. Looking further to the East, Momenta will join forces with Min Xiao-Fen, "pipa player extraordinaire" (Chicago Tribune), for Tan Dun's dramatic Pipa Concerto (1999). Min Xiao-Fen will also perform two of her own originally-composed solo works. To round out the program, Momenta presents a masterpiece of the chamber music canon, Claude Debussy's riveting String Quartet.
Admission is $15 general, $10 members/seniors/students with ID.
