Weekend subway service changes

Check out these service changes before taking the subway this weekend.

Construction work to upgrade and maintain stations, tracks and signal systems is affecting weekend service on many of the city’s subway lines. The MTA is advising customers to allow for extra travel time if they rely on any of these trains.

From 11:30 p.m. Friday, March 28 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2 trains are suspended between 96 St and 241 St due to switch inspection and repairs south of 135 Street.  Take 5 trains, and free shuttle buses.

From 11:30 p.m. Friday, March 28 to 5 a.m. Sunday, March 31, service is suspended due to switch inspection and repairs south of 135 Street. Take 2 and 4 trains and free shuttle buses.

From 11:30 p.m. Friday, March 28 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 31, 4 service is extended to New Lots Ave., replacing the 3, which is suspended. Trains run local in Brooklyn.  This is due to switch inspection and repairs south of 135 Street.

From 11:45 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, March 28 to Sunday, March 30 and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday, March 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 31, Woodlawn-bound 4  trains run express from Grand Central-42 St to 125 St. due to track tie renewal north of Grand Central-42 St.

From 11:30 p.m. Friday, March 28 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 31, 5  trains are extended to 241st St all weekend  They will run every 20 minutes between Bowling Green and E. 180 St,. and between Dyre Ave. and E. 180th St. due to switch inspection and repairs south of 135 Street.

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday, March 29 until 5 a.m. Monday, March 31, downtown trains run local from 125th St. to Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall and uptown trains run local from Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall to Grand Central-42nd St due to track tie renewal north of Grand Central-42nd Street.

At all times until May 2014, 6 trains skip Middletown Rd. and Castle Hill Ave. in both directions due to station renewal work.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, March 28 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 31, Pelham Bay Park-bound 6  trains run express from Grand Central-42 St to 125 St. due to track tie renewal north of Grand Central-42 St.

From 2 a.m. Saturday, March 29 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 31, 7 trains are suspended between Times Sq-42 St. and Queensboro Plaza due to CBTC track tie replacement work at Queensboro Plaza. Use E F N Q trains for service between Manhattan and Queens.  Free shuttle buses make all subway station stops between Vernon Blvd-Jackson Ave. and Queensboro Plaza.  The 42 Street Shuttle operates overnight.

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday, March 29 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 31 A trains run local in both directions between Canal St. and 59th St. for vent upgrade work.

E

From 12:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, to 5 a.m. Monday, March 31, Jamaica Center-bound E  trains run local from Queens Plaza to Jackson Hts Roosevelt Ave. due to track maintenance south of 36 St., and rail repairs from 36 St. to Jackson Hts Roosevelt Ave.

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday, March 29 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 31, World Trade Center-bound trains run local from 71st Ave. to Roosevelt Ave due to signal modernization at Forest Hills-71st Avenue and Kew Gardens-Union.

F

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, March 28 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 31, Jamaica-bound F trains run express from Church Ave. to Jay St.-Metro Tech due to Church Avenue Interlocking.  For travel to Fort Hamilton Pkwy, 15th St.-Prospect Park, 4th Ave.-Smith-9th St., Carroll St. and Bergen St., take F  to 7th Ave. or Jay St.-Metro Tech and transfer to Coney Island-bound  F . From these stations, take Coney Island-bound F   to 7th Ave. or Church Ave. and transfer to Jamaica-bound F.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, March 29 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 31, Coney Island-bound F trains run local from 71st Ave. to Roosevelt Ave due to signal modernization at Forest Hills-71st Avenue and Kew Gardens-Union.

From 12:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, March 31, Jamaica 179 St-bound F  trains run local from 21 St-Queensbridge to Jackson Hts Roosevelt Ave. due to track maintenance south of 36 St. and rail repairs from 36 St. to Jackson Hts Roosevelt Ave.

G

From 11:30 p.m. Friday, March 28 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 31, no trains between Church Ave. and Hoyt-Schermerhorn St. due to Church Avenue Interlocking.  Use F train instead. G service operates in two sections: between Court Square and Bedford-Nostrand Ave. and between Bedford-Nostrand Avenues and Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets every 20 minutes. To continue trip, transfer at Bedford-Nostrand Avenues. To connect between F and G service, take A and C between Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets and Jay St.-Metro Tech.

From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, March 29 to 10 p.m. Sunday, March 30, Jamaica Center Parsons/Archer-bound J  trains run express from Marcy Ave. to Broadway Junction due to track work from Flushing Av to Myrtle Av, and track repairs near Broadway Junction.

M

From 4 a.m. Saturday, March 29 to 10 p.m. Sunday, March 30, trains run every 20 minutes between Metropolitan Ave. and Myrtle Ave. for track work between Flushing Ave. and Myrtle Ave. and track repairs near Broadway Junction.

Q

At all times until early summer 2014, Coney Island-bound Q  trains skip Parkside Av, Beverley Rd, and Cortelyou Rd. due to painting and concrete repair work on station platforms at Parkside Av, Beverley Rd, and Cortelyou Rd.

Q

From 10:45p.m. Friday, March 28 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 31, Coney Island Stillwell Av-bound Q  trains run express from Newkirk Plaza to Kings Hwy for track panel work from Church Ave. to Newkirk Plaza and Brighton Beach.

Q

From 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 29, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 30, Q service is extended to Ditmars Blvd to replace partially-suspended 7 service due to CBTC track tie replacement work at Queensboro Plaza.

S (Rockaway Park)

From 11:30 p.m. Friday, March 28 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 31, Rockaway Park S  Shuttle service is replaced by A trains due to track panel work between Beach 67 St. and Beach 60 St.

S (42nd St)

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday, March 29 to 6 a.m. Monday, March 31, 42 Street S Shuttle trains operate overnight due to CBTC track tie replacement work at Queensboro Plaza.

N/R (Montague Tubes Closed)

At all times until October 2014, there are no N or R trains running between Court Street in Brooklyn and Whitehall Street in Manhattan.  Late night N and weekend R service are rerouted over the Manhattan Bridge.

No N or R trains in either direction at Jay Street-MetroTech, Court Street, Whitehall Street, Rector Street, Cortlandt Street and City Hal.

Late night R shuttle in Brooklyn is unaffected.
