Subway service changes to affect 13 lines this weekend

Check out these service changes before taking the subway this weekend.

Construction work to upgrade and maintain stations, tracks and signal systems is affecting weekend service on many of the city’s subway lines. The MTA is advising customers to allow for extra travel time if they rely on any of these trains.

From 3:30 a.m. Saturday, July 5 to 10:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6,  2 trains are suspended between E180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse due to track panel installation south of Prospect Av, electrical work near 3Av-149 St, and overcoat painting south of Jackson Av.  Free shuttle buses provide alternate service.

From 11:00 p.m. Saturday, July 5 to 6:00 a.m. Sunday, July 6, and from 11:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, July 7, Crown Hts-Utica Av-bound 4 trains run local from 125 St to Grand Cantral-42 St due to CPM cable work south of 125 St.

From 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Saturday, July 5, and from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6 5  trains are suspended between E180 St and Bowling Green due to track panel installation south of Prospect Av, electrical work near 3Av-149 St, and overcoat painting south of Jackson Av.  4 trains make all 5 station stops between 149 St-Grand Concourse and Bowling Green.  Free shuttle buses provide alternate service.

Beginning 12:01 a.m. Saturday, July 5 until February 2015 6 trains skip Zerega Av and Buhre Av in both directions due to CPM station rehabilitation work.

For Service To/From Zerega Av, use the Bx4 or shuttle buses to connect between Zerega Av and Castle Hill Av; free transfer is available with MetroCard.

For Service To/From Buhre Av, use the Bx8, Bx24, or shuttle buses to connect between Buhre Av and Middletown Rd; free transfer is available with MetroCard.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, July 4 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, July 7, Times Sq-42 St bound 7 trains run express from Mets-Willets Point to 74 St-Broadway due to CBTC related work near Mets-Willets Point, and track panel installation south of Flushing Main St.

A

At all times until August 2014, Far Rockaway/Lefferts Blvd-bound A  trains skip 88 St, and Lefferts Blvd-bound A  trains skip 104 St due to station renewals at 88 St and 104 St.

For Service To/From 88 St:  To 88 St, take the A to Rockaway Blvd and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A.  From 88 St, take a Brooklyn-bound A to 80 St and transfer to a Far Rockaway or Lefferts Blvd-bound A.

For Service To/From 104 St:  To 104 St, take the Lefferts Blvd-bound A  to Lefferts Blvd and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A .  From 104 St, take the Q112 bus. Or, take the A to Rockaway Blvd and transfer to a Lefferts Blvd-bound A train.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, July 4, to 5:00 a.m. Monday, July 7, A trains are suspended in both directions between 168 St and Inwood-207 St due to MOW track tie renewal near 181 St.  Free shuttle buses provide alternate service.

C

From 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, July 5, and Sunday, July 6, C trains are suspended in both directions between 145 St and 168 St due to MOW track tie renewal near 181 St.  Take the A train as a travel alternative. A trains run local between 145 St and 168 St.

D

From 12:01 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Sunday, July 6, D  trains run local in both directions between DeKalb Av and 36 St due to cable work near 4 Av-9 St.

E

12:30 a.m. Saturday, July 5, to 5:00 a.m. Monday, July 7, E trains run local in Queens due to CPM signal modernization at Forest Hills-71 Av and Kew Gardens-Union Tpke.

F

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 4 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, July 7, Coney Island Stillwell Av-bound F trains are rerouted via the E line from Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av to 5 Av/53 St due to Second Avenue Subway construction work.

12:30 a.m. Saturday, July 5, to 5:00 a.m. Monday, July 7, F trains run local in Queens due to CPM signal modernization at Forest Hills-71 Av and Kew Gardens-Union Tpke.

G

From 5:00 a.m. to 12 midnight, Saturday, July 5, and Sunday, July 6, G trains run every 20 minutes between Long Island City-Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs due to Hurricane Sandy recovery work in the Greenpoint Tube.  The last stop for some G trains headed toward Long Island City-Court Sq is Bedford-Nostrand Avs.

N

From 12:01 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Sunday, July 6, N  trains run local in both directions between DeKalb Av and 59 St due to cable work near 4 Av-9 St..

R

From 6:30 a.m. to 12 midnight Saturday, July 5, and Sunday, July 6, R service is extended to Jamaica-179 St due to MOW Jamaica Yard lead switch reconstruction.

N/R (Montague Tubes Closed)

At all times until October 2014, there are no N or R trains running between Court Street in Brooklyn and Whitehall Street in Manhattan.  Late night N and weekend R service are rerouted over the Manhattan Bridge.

No N or R trains in either direction at Jay Street-MetroTech, Court Street, Whitehall Street, Rector Street, Cortlandt Street and City Hall.

Late night R shuttle in Brooklyn is unaffected.
