Weekend subway service changes

Check out these service changes before taking the subway this weekend.

Construction work to upgrade and maintain stations, tracks and signal systems is affecting weekend service on many of the city’s subway lines. The MTA is advising customers to allow for extra travel time if they rely on any of these trains.

1

From 11:30 p.m. Friday, September 27 to 5 a.m. Monday, September 30, there are no 1 train between 14th Street and South Ferry due to Cortlandt Street reconstruction.  Customers may take 2 3 trains and free shuttle buses.

1 trains run express in both directions between 34th Street-Penn Station and 14th Street

2 3 trains run local in both directions between 34th Street-Penn Station and Chambers Street

Free shuttle buses operate between Chambers Street and South Ferry.

Overnight Note:  Downtown 1 trains run local from Times Square-42nd Street to 14th Street.  3 trains run express between 148th Street and Times Square-42nd Street.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, September 27 to 6 a.m. Saturday, September 28, from 11:45 p.m. Saturday, September 28 to 6 a.m. Sunday, September 29 and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday, September 29 to 5 a.m. Monday, September 30, downtown 4 trains run express from 125th Street to Grand Central-42nd Street due to electrical work at 51st Street.

From 5:45 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, September 28 and from 7:45 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, September 29, Bowling Green-bound 5 trains run express from Dyre Avenue to East 180th Street due to track tie block and surface replacement north of Morris Park and cable work north of Baychester Avenue.

From 6 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Saturday, September 28 and from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Sunday, September 29, 5 trains run every 20 minutes between Dyre Avenue and Bowling Green due to electrical work at 51st Street.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, September 27 to 5 a.m. Monday, September 30, downtown 6 trains run express from 125th Street to Grand Central-42nd Street due to electrical work at 51st Street.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, September 27 to 4 a.m. Monday, September 30, Pelham Bay Park-bound 6 trains run express from Parkchester to Pelham Bay Park due to station work at Castle Hill Avenue and Middletown Road.

A

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday, September 28 to 5 a.m. Monday, September 30, there is no A  train service between Euclid Avenue and Lefferts Blvd or Howard Beach-JFK Airport due to track panel work at Lefferts Blvd. and Rockaway Blvd. and track tie renewal and maintenance at Grant Avenue.  A trains operate in two sections:

Between Inwood-207th Street and Euclid Avenue

Between Howard Beach-JFK Airport and Far Rockaway

Free shuttle buses operate in two segments:

Between Euclid Avenue and Howard Beach-JFK Airport, making station stops at Grant Avenue, 80th Street, 88th Street, Rockaway Blvd., 104th Street, 111th Street, Lefferts Blvd., Aqueduct Racetrack and Aqueduct-North Conduit Avenue.

Between Euclid Avenue and Howard Beach-JFK Airport, nonstop

Transfer between trains and free shuttle buses at Euclid Avenue and/or at Howard Beach-JFK airport.  Note:  Rockaway Park train shuttle is unaffected.

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday, September 28 to 5 a.m. Monday, September 30, Brooklyn-bound A trains run local from 125th Street to 59th Street-Columbus Circle due to track tie renewal south of 125th Street.

D

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday, September 28 to 5 a.m. Monday, September 30, Coney Island-bound D trains run local from 145th Street to 59th Street-Columbus Circle due to track tie renewal south of 125th Street.

E

From 12:15 a.m. to 6:30 a.m., Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29 and from 12:15 a.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, September 30, Jamaica Center-bound E trains run express from Roosevelt Avenue to 71st Avenue due to signal modernization at Forest Hills-71st Avenue and Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike.

From 12:15 a.m. Saturday, September 28 to 5 a.m. Monday, September 30, Jamaica Center-bound E trains skip 75th Avenue and Van Wyck Blvd due to signal modernization at Forest Hills-71st Avenue and Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike.

F

From 11:15 p.m. Friday, September 27 to 5 a.m. Monday, September 30, Coney Island-bound F trains are rerouted via the M line from Roosevelt Avenue to 47th-50th Sts due to station work at Lexington Avenue-63rd Street for the Second Avenue Subway project.

From 12:15 a.m. Saturday, September 28 to 5 a.m. Monday, September 30, Jamaica-bound F trains skip 75th Avenue, Van Wyck Blvd. and Sutphin Blvd. due to signal modernization at Forest Hills-71st Avenue and Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike.

G

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, September 27 to 5 a.m. Monday, September 30, there is no G train service between Court Square and Nassau Avenue.  G trains operate between Nassau Avenue and Church Avenue.  There is no G service at Greenpoint Avenue, 21st Street and Court Square.

Free shuttle buses operate on two routes:

Via Manhattan Avenue between Nassau Avenue G and Court Square

Via McGuinness Blvd between Lorimer Street L and Court Square

Customers may transfer between:

G trains and shuttle buses at Nassau Avenue

L trains and shuttle buses at Lorimer Street

E or 7 trains and shuttle buses at Court Square

L

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, September 27 to 5 a.m. Monday, September 30, there is no L train service between Lorimer Street and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs due to track tie renewal at Graham Avenue.  L service operates in two sections:

Between 8th Avenue and Lorimer Street

Between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs and Rockaway Parkway

Free shuttle buses operate between Lorimer Street and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.

N R (Montague Tubes Closed)

At all times until October 2014, there are no N or R trains running between Court Street in Brooklyn and Whitehall Street in Manhattan.  Late night N and weekend R service are rerouted over the Manhattan Bridge.

No N or R trains in either direction at Jay Street-MetroTech, Court Street, Whitehall Street, Rector Street, Cortlandt Street and City Hall.

Late night R shuttle in Brooklyn is unaffected.

Q

At all times until December 2013, Manhattan-bound Q platforms at Cortelyou Road, Beverley Road and Parkside Avenue are closed for station component work.

R

From 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29, Forest Hills-71st Avenue bound R trains run express from Roosevelt Avenue to Forest Hills-71st Avenue due to signal modernization at Forest Hills-71st Avenue and Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike.
