An off-duty FBI agent fired at three men that attempted to break into his car this morning in South Ozone Park.
The agent found the suspects outside his home on Sutter Avenue at about 5:15 a.m., police said.
After calling 9-1-1, the man confronted the suspects and opened fire as the trio fled the scene in a dark-colored car, striking one suspect, cops said.
Police canvassed area hospitals and discovered a man with a gunshot wound to the lower back at Brookdale Hospital, about six miles from the shooting.
The suspect is in police custody in stable condition.
The FBI confirmed an off-duty agent was involved in a shooting, but had no further details.
The investigation is ongoing.

This doesn’t sound like a legitimate use of a gun. Not that I have any sympathy for the person who was shot, but the 911 call and a transcription of the license plate number would have been an appropriate response.
I thought FBI agents were supposed to be professionals. Law enforcement professionals aren’t supposed to shoot petty thieves who are not threatening any harm.
