Comfort Keepers, a company providing quality, loving, in-home care services for seniors, is placing importance on safe living, one house at a time.
Jim and Marie Rice, owners of the Comfort Keepers of New Hyde Park, had a strong desire to assist seniors to continue to live in their own homes.
“Institutionalized living is not for everyone,” said Jim, who had difficulty finding the right agency to care for his own mom. “I wanted to start an agency that is better because seniors deserve it; and so did my mom.”
Since 2003, Jim, the president, and Marie, a licensed clinical social worker and vice-president of the New Hyde Park Comfort office, have been going through thorough screenings and hiring processes to locate workers that truly have a heart for the elderly.
“The workers are matched up with seniors who require some assistance at home, be this once a week all the way up to 24/7 live-in,” said Jim. “Once the worker and the senior have been matched, I will call the family to make sure everything is working out; if not then we will make a change.”
While each office is independently owned and operated, Jim and Marie have helped many elders in their area so far, and are looking forward to the expansion of Comfort Keepers into areas where people may not be familiar with their services.
“The non-medical, in-home care services are needed in the community and will produce a better quality of life,” said Jim. “We invite seniors and their families who may have questions about our services to call.”
