Cleaning man fatally shoots burglar at Queens grocery store

An after-hours cleaning man at a Jamaica grocery shot and killed one of two brazen catburglars who’d cut a hole through the roof to rob the place, sources said. The unidentified cleaning man was on the job at the Met Foodmarket at Jamaica Avenue and 173rd Street when the pair lowered themselves to a spot near the store’s check-out aisles shortly after 2 a.m. The worker had a gun registered to the store’s owner and opened fire after confronting the pair, the sources said. Syracuse center Melo ruled ineligible for NCAA tournament

Syracuse center Fab Melo has been ruled ineligible to play in the NCAA tournament, the school announced Tuesday. The announcement comes two days before the top-seeded Orange were set to take on UNC-Asheville in the tournament’s East Region. “Syracuse University sophomore men’s basketball center Fab Melo did not travel with the team to Pittsburgh, and will not take part in the NCAA Tournament due to an eligibility issue,” read a statement posted on the university’s website. Madam’s ‘sidekick’ turns herself in, will be arraigned this afternoon in Manhattan

The beautiful, accused co-pilot Madam of Anna Gristina is in custody at Manhattan Criminal Court on her almost three-week old arrest warrant, and is due to be arraigned sometime this afternoon, The Post has learned. Strawberry blonde Jaynie Baker, 30, of Williamsburg, has been wanted by the DA’s office since Feb. 22, when she was indicted, along with Gristina, for allegedly running a millionaire’s-only, $2,000 a visit call girl ring.
