Some mailers sent out by the Board of Elections (BOE) last month telling voters they had new stations may have given the incorrect address, officials said.
Mailers had originally been sent out to inform voters that some stations had changed in correspondence with new district lines. A number of these sites were wrong.
The BOE was under pressure to get the mailers out between August 1 and 5, said BOE spokesperson Valerie Vasquez, and some voting sites were incorrect as a result.
“In these instances, poll site change notices were immediately sent to every voter affected informing of their correct poll site,” she said. Councilmember Elizabeth Crowley said she noticed the flub right away and immediately called the BOE to find out what had happened. Her staff has been reaching out to voters to encourage them to call the BOE to confirm their new ballot site.
“A week from now, voters from all over New York City may be going to the wrong polling site because the Board of Elections mailed them the incorrect information,” she said.
Crowley was one of several Queens officials to sign a letter from Public Advocate Bill DiBlasio that insisted the BOE remedy the mishap as soon as possible.
“If we can’t even get people to the right poll site to vote, we are really up the creek,” DiBlasio. “The Board of Elections has to make this right. Fast.”

The polling places change due to redistricting changes, if the district is affected by the new lines to that degree, based on the Census numbers and apportionments of population changes. Congressional districts comprise about 600,000; State Senatorial districts about 300,000 people; State Assembly districts about 150,000; City Council districts, about 200,000 or more of population. Now as for the “dreaded Republicans” causing the mess described in the article above, Granny, get a clue: The NYC Board of Elections Commissioners have by law, 10 commissioners, two from each of the five boroughs of New York City. One of these two is from each of the two parties whose candidates got the most votes in the last gubernatorial election. Since the top two candidates in the last election represented the Republican Party and the Democrat Party, the Republican Party and the Democrat Party get 5 representatives each on the Board of Elections. The 10 Commissioners meet once a week at 32 Broadway, New York NY, on the Sixth Floor, and it’s apparently cause for them to screw up big time in outreach to voters–and it’s their mission and their job, no less. The City Council appoints them, and they’re nominated by their respective county parties. So, they’re patronage jobs, which explains a lot.
You have a loud voice use it. Stop them
The Republicans know that they are a bunch of loosers. They also know that they can not stand next to our now president and win on equal ground. So they have to pull tricks out of their magical bag. How could this country start to stoop so low as to change the voting laws just before the election. America is begaining to dip her face in deep sh**. If the Republicans are as good as you are trying to convince us that they are, Why are the republicans dipping their face? The rich are going to bury this country and you poor a** people will not be able to stop them because you gave them the power. They are telling you straight up. you don’t mean a damn thing to them. and there are more of you than them. Once they bury you they can move on to other indigious countries, because you are dead.
after 21 year at the same address, they change polls, go figure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
