On October 23, Apple introduced the iPad mini.

Today, Apple introduced the iPad mini, a thinner, lighter version of its popular tablet.

At .68 pounds and 7.2 millimeters thin, it’s 53 percent lighter and 23 percent thinner than the third generation iPad, and has a 7.9-inch screen that features the same number of pixels as the first two iPad models.

On Tuesday Apple also revealed its fourth generation iPad, with a 9.7 inch Retina display, A6X chip, FaceTime HD camera and ultrafast wireless performance.

Along with its smaller size, the iPad mini also comes with a smaller price. Available in black and slate or white and silver versions, the mini tablet starts at $329 for the 16 GB Wi-Fi only version, $429 for the 32 GB and $529 for the 64 GB. Models with Wi-Fi + Cellular start at $459 for the 16 GB.

The fourth generation iPad, available in black or white, starts at $499 for the 16 GB Wi-Fi only version and $629 for the 16GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model.

The iPad mini and fourth generation iPad will be available for pre-ordering through the Apple online store starting Friday, October 26.

The Wi-Fi only version of both iPads will be available on November 2. About two weeks later, the Wi-Fi + Cellular models will start shipping, said Apple.
