Cops shoot, kill Queens ‘knife man’ who stabbed his wife: police

Police search for the knife they say a man used to stab himself and his wife in Queens Thursday. A domestic squabble turned deadly in Queens last night when cops shot a knife-wielding man who had stabbed himself and his wife, law-enforcement sources said. The violence erupted at 8:30 p.m., when cops were called to a home on 223rd Place in Bayside, where a 50-year-old man was reported to be cutting himself with a knife. “There was a lot of blood inside,” a police source said. Cops found the man and his 51-year-old wife — both bleeding — standing next to each other in front of their home, with the man holding a blood-soaked knife. Murder-suicide at JFK hotel

A man lunching with five associates at a Kennedy Airport hotel yesterday suddenly jumped to his feet, drew a gun and pumped up to eight bullets into the head of one of his fellow diners. Then he blew his own brains out, authorities and witnesses said. The four others at the table tried to flee but were tackled by security guards at the Hilton Garden Inn and turned over to cops. Their meeting had taken place in a private room adjacent to the main lobby cafe. The six “were speaking a foreign language — it may have been Russian,’’ according to a person who had been within earshot before the bullets began flying at around noon. Queens falling behind in vote for preservation funds

Several historic sites in Queens could miss out on thousands of dollars in preservation funds because they are attracting few votes in an on-line contest. The Partners in Preservation program selected 40 sites across the five boroughs to vie for $3 million in grants. The top four vote-getters get their projects fully funded and several of the runners-up will divvy up the rest. But none of the five Queens sites has made it into the top ten since voting started on April 26. Read More: Daily News
