1. What do you love about your job and why?
One of my greatest passions is helping others. I like helping people find solutions that meet their specific needs and through that process, helping to create a sense of hope where none may exist. At the Central Queens Y, I am part of an organization that does not see its role as merely providing services, but instead seeks to support people to live the kind of lives to which they aspire. Through our wide array of programs, we are providing community members with the necessary tools to level the playing field. There is something for every person at the Y, and through our work we create, for thousands of Queens residents, a real sense of community and belonging.
2. What are your business goals over the next five years?
Under the management of the Samuel Field Y, our vision for the Central Queens Y is to ensure that the greater Queens community will continue to receive the highest quality of programs and services and expand our offering to continue to meet the emerging needs of the community. In 2010 we opened our doors and provided services at five new locations working with Queens’ most vulnerable populations. Our goal is to continue to grow into new locations as we identify underserved populations in Queens in need of our interventions.
3. How do you give back to the community?
I feel so blessed to come to work every day within the community I was born, raised, and now reside with my family. To that end, every day when I come to work, I am not only helping a client but I am also helping a neighbor. In addition to working at the CQY, I am active in my children’s school, currently serving as a board member and an active member of my synagogue.
