The CityBench program, initiated by the Department of Transportation (DOT), hopes to increase the amount of seating in public locations around New York City to make the city more comfortable and accessible for those who are elderly or disabled.

The DOT is placing benches around the city, focusing on areas of transportation and where there are large numbers of pedestrians. The DOT is also taking recommendations for where to put benches. To submit your request, visit www.dot.gov.
