110th Precinct
On Thursday, March 11, police responded to a 9-1-1 call of a motor vehicle accident on the eastbound Grand Central Parkway (GCP) at 49th Avenue.
Upon further investigation it was determined that a 1997 Honda Civic, driven by am 18-year-old male and with three occupants, was traveling eastbound on the GCP when it rear-ended a flatbed tow truck that was assisting a disabled vehicle in the right lane. The Honda was then rear-ended by a 1995 Honda sedan, driven by a 31-year-old man.
EMS responded and took the four occupants of the first vehicle to NYHQ, where one of the passengers, a 17-year-old female, was pronounced dead. The driver and two other passengers are listed in stable condition with minor injuries. There were no injuries sustained by the truck operator or the other driver; however, he was issued a summons for speeding.
