Deluge – a unique hotel restaurant

Deluge is a gem of a restaurant in the heart of bustling downtown Flushing. You will find a beautiful environment and fabulous food – both Eastern and Western – served by a friendly efficient, professional staff.

Having been to Deluge many times I can report a consistently excellent experience. It is one of my favorite places to dine because of this combination of great environment and great food.

The warm, handsome rooms are perfect for private and also romantic meals. The seating is in intimate spaces that are draped around the tables with two private rooms offering space for parties of 12 to 15. There is a large round table in one space hard to find anywhere else. There are tables on either side of the cascading waterfall below a glass enclosed wine room stocked with wines in many price points.

Since the restaurant is on the first floor of the Sheraton LaGuardia East with plenty of free parking, it’s an easy place to meet friends or have a business meeting. An added bonus is that they offer a pre-theatre dinner for those attending Flushing Town Hall or Queens Theatre in the Park or are just early birds.

The four course menu is available everyday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and if you show your theatre tickets it’s only $35 for the $45 meal. What I like about the menu is that it offers both “Western” and “Asian” specialties. I started my “Act I” with a smoked salmon tartar and then for “Act II” I chose between the spinach salad and Caesar salad, both crisp and fresh. My ‘main’ course, “Act III,” was a stir fried flank steak with a tasty Sa-Cha Sauce. My finale was sliced fresh fruit but my partner had a luscious chocolate mousse cake. There were also offerings of ice cream, sorbet and Chinese almond cookies.

One of my all time favorite dishes served at lunch is a unique chicken soup with bones and chunks of vegetables in a light clear chicken broth. There is a special lunch menu too.

Being in a hotel the restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner 365 days a year. Try it, you’ll love it.
