Decision To Run: We need independent leadership in Albany and not elected officials beholden to the special interests. I want to bring government back to the people and restore voter confidence in their elected officials. I believe that representing the people is a privilege and not a right bestowed by party bosses. I am running for the New York State Assembly because I believe the highest calling of a citizen is to serve his or her fellow citizens in office as a position of trust.
Major Issues: There are many issues facing our district, however senior services and education are of paramount importance. Honoring and taking care of our elders should always be a top priority. During economic troubles there should never be any discussions about closing senior centers or reducing important services provided to our senior population. Instead, we should look to cut ineffective and wasteful programs so that our seniors have the services that they rely upon and deserve.
As Community Education Council President, I have fought tirelessly for the parents and children of our district. There are many problems facing our public school system that need to be resolved. We need changes to the public school system that address accountability, productivity and financial responsibility.
Top Priorities: I want to help the hard working people of New York. As our economy continues to struggle, middle class taxpayers and working families are having an extremely difficult time making ends meet. Unfortunately, Albany’s response to this economic crisis is to penalize New Yorkers by raising taxes, cutting jobs and eliminating important services. I want to bring fiscal responsibility and restraint to Albany.

Decision To Run: Over the past year I have delivered essential services to my constituents. Whether opening a new senior center in Woodhaven or working to ease crime, I have provided my district with the necessary representation it has been missing for so long. I am running for re-election because there is still much work to be done. I am seeking to continue my record of delivering to my communities.
Major Issues: The downturn in the economy has hit my district hard. Businesses are closing along major avenues and working people are struggling. That is why I co-sponsored a program that allows businesses to have their equipment upgraded to be more energy efficient. The program has helped save money and prevent layoffs. For homeowners, I sponsored district-wide financial literacy courses to prevent families in my district from entering foreclosure.
When the economy takes a downturn, the first services cut are health care and education. As a result schools are not receiving the adequate resources they need. That’s why I helped draft legislation that would reform New York’s education system and prevent school budgets from being cut mid-year. As a result, many teachers will keep their jobs and schools will continue to have equipment to teach their students.
Top Priorities: If re-elected, I will continue fighting to create jobs right here in Queens, improve local schools and build more affordable housing for seniors. In the past 11 months I have fought for the working people in my district, and if re-elected I will continue to push for the reform our community so desperately needs.
