He comes from a long family line of attorneys – three generations worth. “It’s been a family tradition for a while,” Vallone, who has practiced law for 16 years, said. Vallone & Vallone was founded in 1932 by the family patriarch, the Honorable Judge Charles J. Vallone. His son, Peter F. Vallone is the Senior Partner. Paul Vallone and his brother, Peter F. Vallone, Jr. are the remaining partners.
Money raised thus far: Private: $135,526 Public: $101,919
Why did you decide to run? “This is all I ever wanted to do,” Vallone said. “This is the neighborhood I live in. I wanted to do what I do best: community service in my neighborhood.”
What are two major issues affecting your community? The two issues Vallone mentions when asked are quality of life and public safety. “Quality of life is anything that affects our neighborhood; protecting it from overdevelopment; making sure that our schools are not cut…” Regarding public safety, “our district is so large that we have two precincts, the 109th and 111th. Strong leadership at a local level makes strong district leadership [and helps] make sure our neighborhoods are safe.”
What’s the first thing you would focus on if elected? Vallone, who was recently endorsed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, said he intends to bring “the resources of City Hall into our district.” We have not had the full cooperation of City Hall and the mayor. With Mayor Bloomberg endorsing our campaign, I will be able to sit with the other council members. We’ll put District 19 back on the map.”
