Chinese New Year Celebration

The Central Library will hold a Chinese New Year celebration on Friday, January 25 and Saturday, January 26.
The celebration will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday with a screening of “Mulan.” This will be followed by “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” at 5:45 p.m.
On Saturday, there will be Chinese Lantern making for children from noon to 1 p.m. Other events include a Lion Dance, Asian folk dance and music, excerpts from Chinese Peking Opera and a martial arts demonstration.

P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center will hold the third installment of Caf/ Cinema: Cinema of the Unusual on Saturday, January 26 at 3:30 p.m.
This installment is called “Performance! Humor, Hallucinations, and Happenings in the ‘60s.” The films included in it are “Scarface and Aphrodite” (1963), “American Au Gratin” (1963), “Chumlum” (1964), “Doomshow” (1964) and “Doubletakes” (1993).

“Chop Shop”

The Museum of the Moving Image will have a preview screening of “Chop Shop” with director Ramin Bahrani at 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 26.
The film, which was shot in Queens, is about a 12-year-old orphan. It is set near Shea Stadium in the Iron Triangle.
Following the screening of “Chop Shop,” Bahrani will participate in a discussion.

“Addict-Love”
SculptureCenter
Through March 30
The Tom Burr solo exhibition “Addict-Love” will be on display at the SculptureCenter through March 30.
Through the sculptures included in this exhibition, Burr “creates a set of abstract tableaux reflecting on modernity; its history, its personalities, and of course, its style.”
