Scenic Little Neck Bay, between Bayside and Douglaston, attracts boaters, joggers, anglers … and shoreline trash. U.S. Representative Gary Ackerman, City Councilmember James Gennaro and the Bayside Anglers Group sponsored a cleanup of the shore. They met along the Joe Michael’s Mile, between the 35th Avenue footbridge and Northern Boulevard, on Sunday, August 17.
With the co-operation of New York City Parks Department and the Department of Sanitation, volunteers including Gennaro, who chairs the council’s Environmental Protection Committee, collected a sizeable load of litter.
Shown here with their “catch of the day” are (from left) Victoriana and John Peck; their children Sharon, Diane and Nelson; Barry Ceasar; Dan Haggerty; Phil Romano, Councilmember Gennaro and Stan Reichlin.
